The Eclipse will begin the morning (11:47 AM) of Monday 8/21/17 and end at 2:43 p.m.

  • Last time a total solar eclipse touched the US was in 1991 in Hawaii and the last time in the St. Louis area was in 1442.
  • Partial phase start: 11:48 a.m.(CDT).
  • The sun will enter Totality at 1:15:42 p.m. and emerge at 1:18::24 p.m. Duration of Totality 2m 31s.
  • The sun will emerge from the partial eclipse at 2:43:28 p.m.
  • Eclipse: 2Hr 54min 54 sec
  • A total solar eclipse can only be experienced in the narrow path of the earth’s surface where the Moon’s shadow happens to fall.
  • In Missouri, the eclipse path will start in St. Joseph, pass over Columbia and Jeff City, De Soto and finally head into Illinois at Cape Girardeau.
